Hi there. Leaving Dec 9th for SEA and need to figure out exactly what we can manage with the least hassle for our two kids, 3 yrs and 6 yrs. Love Bangkok and last time stayed at the Bella Bella which was great but would like to have a pool this time close to Khao San Rd if it isn't too expensive. Want to leave pretty quickly for Myanmar for a couple of weeks and then to Cambodia(possibly if it isn't pushing it) and returning to Bangkok for our flight out on Dec 31st. Any insights would be appreciated. Kid friendly things in Bangkok would be good to know about. Thanks for any info.

Our kids loved Khoa San. We stayed at the D&D. It has a pool but the beds are hard. Two weeks in Myanmar is not long. Plan your trip before getting there and fly around in-country if you can. Booking hotels for Myanmar through the Internet is the best price. The Wats around Siem Reap are fun for kids because they can run around and climb.

I recommend New Siam II GH, on a small alley between KSR and the River. A hotel like Guesthouse with a pool. For kid friendly venues in BKK check out these sites:

But chances are, that your kids will enjoy much of the same things as you. I spent a week in BKK with my three kids, and we never got to any of those places, they were more than happy to visit temples and markets, exploring the BKK klongs, and just hang out.

The New Siam is nice. We looked at a room there. It is a five minute walk from Khoa San

Try the zoo in Bangkok unless you are opposed to zoos that is. We found it to be fascinating to be able to get up close to animals which in our Canadian zoos are miles away.

The Viengtai was good, there's masses of links if you Google it but on expedia it's here: http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=dspv&&itid=&itdx=&itty=new&from=m. It has a pool and is just across and down the road from Khao San, far enough away to be quiet. They were really good with our kids a couple of years ago (3 and 5 at the time).
