Hi there,
Anybody have any ideas for a nice cheap hostel for London where I can stay for a night with my 8 year old daughter?
Obviously I know I'm not going to get anything that's cheap and in the centre, but as close as possible that's reliable and allows children. Not bothered about private facilities, hence the leaning towards hostels.
Thanks.

I would contact some convents as many have rooms set aside for guests. Prices are in the hostel range, but are very safe and family oriented. Your price with also include meals in many of them. Some also have family rooms where you would have your own private bath with shower etc. The only stipulation is most have a curfew and the convent will be locked usually between 10 and 11pm. Definitly recommend this!

Have you looked up the Youth Hostel International places?
Holland House is really nice.
cheers from Ruth

We stayed at St Pancras YHA with my 8year old, 11year old and 15 year old sisters. We had a family room which had a toilet and shower, breakfast was included in the price and it was near the train station. My sisters particulary liked staying opposite the station featured in Harry Potter II. The hostel also had a laundry and a tiny guest kitchen.
Have fun in London

The hostel next to St. Paul's is wonderful. It is the City of London hostel, where we go often. It is kid friendly, pretty cheap, and used to be the choir school for St. Paul's.
Nearby favorites are the Globe, the museum of modern art, and Blackfriar's pub. Our children also enjoyed attending evensong at St. Paul.
