I am planning a trip from Canada to Mozambique in July for about 3 or 4 weeks with my spouse and a 20 month old child to visit a family member who is currently living there. Anyone have any tips travelling with a small child to mozambique (ie malaria or other health and safety concerns). I`m a little bit nervous about the malaria.

I am a pretty seasoned traveller but have never travelled through africa before or gone on such a long trip with a child. any recommendations of what i should bring for the child or when travelling with kids to make the trip more comfortable or something i shouldn't leave at home?

I would like to hear about your experiece.

thanks for taking the time to respond.

Hi Erin,
We were in Mozambique in July. You can read my blog at http://travellingdad.quivertreeworld.com/2010/08/09/mozambique-july-2010/
We took the malaria issue very seriously even though we were only there a week. Also, you should be aware some of the roads are in terrible shape - worst I've ever experienced - so what may look like shortish distances will probably take you much longer to cover.
Let me know if you have questions.
