kid friendly accomadation in Daintree and Cairns

Interest forums / Kids To Go

Can anyone recommend anice place to stay with 2 young kids in either of these places ?
and indeed in Mission Beach

Thanks

Don't stay in Cairns itself, it is a mudflat tidal inlet, stay at Palm Beach or Trinity Beach 20 minutes north of the city. These are lovely palm tree fringed calm water beaches, good accomodation and cafes and from memory both have stinger enclosures (not needed outside of box jellyfish season). There is a cheap coastal bus service.

It has been a while since I was up there and that was not with kids, so sorry I cannot give specific kid friendly accomodation advice, especially as I don't know your budget. However, this government site should be impartial and have every choice. Queensland Holidays When you see something you like, I would check it on Trip Advisor for some impartial feedback, they often have good deals as well.

Are you getting down to Brisbane? If the rainforest is too wet up north there are some of the best (I think better) child accessable rainforests within an hour or two of the city.

Enjoy your stay.

Did it with 13. 9 and 7 yo last year. CBD Cairns has the most wonderful free pool/beach complex on the beach next to the main street. For accommodation we can recommend Fitzroy Island - kids loved it and so did I. Get the ferry from town. Can book over the internet. Snorkelling is great, lots of butterflies and lizards, pool, restaurant, bar, bbq, share fridge. Accom is 4 share with ceiling fan. Can get bread and milk on the island most days but take over the rest of food with you. Shop on the island only has cans of beans and little else. Mine were old enough to have walky talkies so had time to self. If your kids are small you may spend your time worrying about unfenced and unguarded pool and beach (especially if you coming to Aus with a UK/Butlins mind set.)
