Does anyone know how much it would cost a non-UK citizen to give birth in the UK?

Its about 5000 pounds to do it privately.

Its free on the NHS and this is fairly widely available to people who are lawfully in the country, even if foreign.

Already pregnant or speculating? Are you already there, or thinking it might be a good place to be? Are you talking public or private? Compared to where? It would be worth checking with the Home Office if you are thinking giving birth there would give you access to a better visa/passport, your child citizenship etc- they are currently in crack down mode on that sort of thing.
Good luck,
cheers,
Em

You will have to register with a GP to access hospital maternity care onthe NHS. the GP will check you are eligible for the NHS before accepting you on their register. In London it is v. difficult for anyone to get on a gps register in many areas as the system is under so much pressure. Even when I was referred I still had to prove to the hospital I had been resident in England for the last year or so.
