we're in Sanur at the moment and loving the scene here--great calm beach, good cheap eats and accomodation. but looking also for a change--suggestions?? We are traveling with 2 pre-schoolers and we love the beach, with calm waters a must, but open to other suggestions. We plan to head to Ubud eventually for 1 week but other places?? we have 2 weeks to fill. any suggestions helpful. we are budget traveling, staying in homestays at the moment. thank in advance. this has also been posted in the indonesia branch.

We stayed at a small resort near Medewi 5 years ago with my 18m old daughter. It was lovely. With traditional bungalows rooms, a restaurant, a swimming pool all looking out towards a a bay. I can't remember how calm the water was for swimming as we just walked the beach looking at the amazing patterns made by tiny little crabs. The resort is fairly remote but situated next to a fishing village and we watched the families push their fishermen out in the boats every morning & welcome them home each night. We also visited a turtle sanctuary & water buffalo races (brilliant action photo opportunities & the only non-balinese family amongst hundreds!)
We paid $50 US per night at the time, but tourism was very quiet then.
