Ergo Baby Carrier or others

Interest forums / Kids To Go

Has anyone used the Ergo Baby Carrier with a toddler? It gets great reviews (and looks less cumbersome than some) but our daughter is 12 kilos and I'm skeptical that anything will be comfortable on my back at that weight (or more). Any others you would suggest? We live in Sydney. Thanks

Hello,

Yes I have used it recently (see my comment in one of the replies in a section below about baby travel beds/cots). I have back aches easily and completely forgot I was carrying my friend's 7-month old baby while hiking (about 10kg), my friend carries her 2 year old daughter with no problem).

Hi,
We have a family travel site in Australia and have reviewed a couple of backpacks that you might find interesting. One is put out by a company called baboz, they also make a portable high chair. You can click on the link in the product review section or shop online section for more info. The other is at the bottom of the product review page, it is a really heavy duty child carrier that will hold kids for years, has wind shelter, drink holder, etc may be more than you need (but worth a look as they have exceptional back support) Our site is www.byokids.com.au hope you find what you are after.

Yes. I have an ERGO carrier (as do all my friends- we couldn't believe how comfortable it is!), and carry my 22 pound one year-old regularly. I have carried my very heavy (36 pounds?) 3 1/2 year old in it at times, but I can't do it for very long, though my husband can carry heavier loads than me. It would be so helpful at the airports, in crowds or at the markets, as taking a stroller is a pain. It is really a great carrier, and we are thrilled to be able to take it to Mexico with us this summer, as it folds down like a sweatshirt would!
My kids like it, too, and never fuss about being in it.
