I went to Cuba in 2010 and returned with Whooping cough and it was very painful and I took a lot of time off work. They are very well immunized in Cuba and the people don't live in poverty. Their casas are very clean as well. There is a definite problem with black mould (google and read about it if you do not know the dangers) and Havana smells very bad from the water coming out of the houses (washing floors) and also the open containers used for rubbish. We travelled to other parts and it did not smell so well. Also watch out for con artists. They all want to take you to a "salsa festival" and what happens is that they take you around and get you to spend money on their friends fake sigars and on themselves. The Cubans are lovely people but they need extra income and therefore the con people. There are some very good solid citizens at well. Cuba is a very safe country and the people respect the law. The people are very happy and friendly even though they are poor.
