Christmas or New year with kids/teenagers/Central/Eastern Europe, Portugal

I'm wondering if anyone has spent christmas or New Year with kids and teenagers in Central or Eastern Europe (esp. North Romania, or Georgia) and has any recommendations. Or if anyone has spent Christmas or New Year around Portugal or Spain. Especially looking for recommendations for smaller cities or towns?
