Childcare?

Interest forums / Kids To Go

Hi

i am looking for some ideas for a holiday with toddlers. Age 4 and 2. We want somewhere with childcare for a couple of hours a day but we are not a 2 weeks in minorca with kids club type of people - anyone got any ideas?

Just to give you and ideas since having the kids we have been to cape town and morrocco - so like a bot of adventure but not too much.

Ideally we want to go at easter for 2 weeks or failing that august.

We want somewhere warm.

We both love the idea of Thailand or Bali - but with childcare?????

thanks

Our children are a couple of years older than yours (6 & 4) and we had a great time in Bali. We used local babysitters in Bali & the Gili Isles who compated to UK standards were cheap and our children were very happy with them. Let me know if you would like more info.

Realised I was very vague with my last post. If you're happy to use local babysitters they are relatively easy to arrange.
Dive shops seem to have a lot of contacts and even if you're not diving they may be able to help. We were diving & they arranged someone to look after our children.
Hotels are also helpful, in Thailand we used a babysitter there (who was very expensive, more comparable with UK prices) she was one of the cleaning girls on her day off - I think they are happy to get the extra cash.
In Amed, one of the beach boys arranged our babysitter. we met her first before agreeing to it all - but the environment was great for our children & they made some great friends with the babysitters children and their friends.

We were mainly diving when we used sitters - so would be gone for 2-3 hours then return, we'd all have lunch together & if we had a dive in the afternoon it'd be another hour.

My daughters genuinely loved being with the babysitters & my 6 year old definitely learnt a lot about how different things could be (she tried to fast during Ramadam but only lasted 3 hours).
Another thing we did was stay in Penang for a month and used a local daycare for a couple of weeks. That was another eye opener for the girls! I think some daycares in areas like that can be more flexible with attendance than their UK counterparts. In Australia a lot of the daycares offered occasional care; we could only afford to do that once.
