Anyone have any suggestions of places to go in the Caribbean with a 8 month old baby that is amenable to kids but isn't necessarily resort-y and overrun with kids (nothing wrong with kids, but looking for something a little more low key). Thanks in advance.

Tortola in the British Virgin Islands is terrific for children. It is not overly touristy but has amenities and is incredibly beautiful and laid back.

Try Firefly Cottages in Negril.

Spent a lovely friendly week there in a little cottage on the beach with my seven year old....he learnt to swim in the sea there -ahhh memories.

Look into Punta Allen on the Yucatan, 100 miles south of cancun. See www.shardon.com
