I live in Canada, and I'd say that probably 100% of the moms I know breastfeed their babies until at least 1 year. About 3/4 of them nurse until age 2 or so, and some even longer. I currently am still nursing my 15-month-old -- any time, anywhere!!! You should be just fine. It is completely culturally acceptable. I would feel more self-conscious and embarrassed to be seen giving my baby a bottle than a breast, but maybe that's just my own bias. At any rate, if by some bad luck someone makes a negative remark, just ignore it or tell the person you're feeding your baby and to mind his own business. That's what I would do, but no one has ever complained yet.
