Australian family is looking for a white christmas this year. Children are aged between 6 and 11(3 of them and they are well travelled). We were oirginally thinking Canada but wondering if there is somewhere even cheaper to visit for a couple of weeks? All ideas apprecaited guys. Thanks

We're taking our four kids to Europe for their white (and bitterly cold) Xmas. Air Asia tickets were $320 one way to London ex- Melb, via KL. Returning to KL from Damascus ($300) and KL-Melb ($190). You may struggle to get tickets that cheap again but if interested keep your eyes plastered to the Air Asia web-site for deals.

I live in Canada and just saw some super cheap tx from Vancouver-sydney (Cdn $687 return) on a travel website (Kayak? Expedia? They all blur after a while). If you're looking for a white christmas in Canada, that is only guaranteed at Ski Resorts (Whistler is super expensive, but others like Panorama or Fernie in BC are excellent choices) or in the major "winter" cities in the Prairies - Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg or Saskatoon. Calgary or Edmonton might be your best bets as if there is no snow in the city, you're guaranteed at the national parks and ski hills of Jasper and Banff. Another alternative is Northern Canada - Yellowknife or even Iqaluit. But that might be too much winter for you! As Canadians our goal is always to get away from winter so I don't know where else you might go to find it. Good luck!
Problem with Europe is that the weather is so variable. Tallinn though is sufficiently far north that there should be a good chance of snow. It also has christmas markets which are just as much part of the European christmas thing as snow. Finn Air does some reaosnable deals to Helsinki and then it's a ferry ride over the Gulf of Finland.
