I am planning to travel to Turkey in April for the Anzac Day Dawn Service with my wife and two young children. My daughter will be 3 years old and my son will be only 7 months old. Were not keen on travelling on a tour that involves travelling by coach. We were hoping to find a tour company that would provide a tour by car but have had no luck. Our other options are to use public transport or by using a hired car. I am not sure if this is safe. Does anyone have any suggestions on travelling around Turkey with small children.
Thank You

Sorry, I have done the gallipolli thing with kids but on the cheap. Also I'm not a good driver so please take my advice accordingly. I think the traffic in Turkey can be horrendous in busy places like Istanbul etc Around gallipolli in september it seemed very quiet. I love catching the local buses but if I had to go the way you are I would be tempted to hire a car and driver but I have no idea how expensive or if it is possible to arrange. The bus system is amazing in Turkey...big modern buses and quite cheap and very very frequent....just turn up at the bus station from memory and there are buses going in every direction all the time. If you are only going to gallipolli for 1 or 2 days a driver might make it viable.Car seats seem to be of major concern to many people posting on this site....you may feel safer (?) on a bus than in a car that has no or suspect baby restrainer. We loved travelling with our kids in Turkey(7 & 8 yrs old) We went to gallipolli on a Sunday using public transport-it was about 48deg cel and we did heaps of walking with backpacks on. there was heaps of locals around. Suddenly the people all disappeared and then the sun went down. So when you see the little garden shed near the cemetery at lone pine ridge imagine the 4 of us sleeping there...the girls catching crickets that jumped all over us and me paranoid about scorpians. It was a lovely peaceful experience sleeping with our fallen countrymen.su
