I have this dream to experience living in Iceland with my 2 daughters 8 &10. I have heard its difficult to find accomodation leasing for this short period so I wonder if Iceland has Homestay or Farmstay in or close to Reyvk or type of boarding house... any ideas?

Have you consider home exchange?
A homestay or farmstay are pretty expensive and there are no farms relatively close to Reykjavík.
There is actually an ad at the bulletin board at my work where someone wants to rent out her appartment for two months.
