I put a dairy product called twaróg in Polish on the area around my knees because of muscle pain, it is a widely known "grandma's tip".
I think it really helps with the muscle pain, however, my skin erupsts in a light rash from this.

Can anyone tell me - does this mean my body does not handle this product well/is allergic to it? Does this mean I should use from "applying" this internally, i.e. eating it?

Difficult to say, Mathilda.
Twaróg is a very basic dairy product. It's made from milk only and normally should be without any additives. However, in these days you can't be sure how it is produced industrially. Traditional home recipe was drained sour milk and the whey separated, nothing else.
I don't know exactly what your ailment is, but in my younger years sour milk was used for treatment of sunburn. I guess, twaróg should have similar properties.

Another old wives tale tip in Poland for pain around the knees is cabbage leaves. Yes you heard me correctly, wrap your legs up with cling film for the night and apparently you'll be pain free in the morning. I'd have thought it's alot less messy than twaróg :-D

Every group has its own dynamics, if you can't see the idiot then it's probably you.
Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think :-D

Just for fun, I remember it was on the news in Russia that twaróg was being sold on a certain market that had kerosene added to it. So when you put it on fire, it burned.

friendly_checkingirl, thanks for reminding me of the cabbage!
