I think I'll go with the case idea I noted above, though I may stop by a wine store this weekend and see if I can find a smaller box that they don't need.

Why? With three separate packages, bzookaj will have to figure out some way to tie them together, so the recipients know they all came from him and don't spend an hour frantically looking for the card that must have gotten detached from that bottle of muscat.

This is a wedding gift. In the US, wedding gifts are usually given with a single card, in an envelope, not gift tags. Gifts can be sent ahead of time or brought in person to a house (bride's, groom's a parent, etc.) or to the reception. Some people frown on gifts being brought to receptions, but where I live, it's the most common practice.
