SALT

Interest forums / Get Stuffed

Hello All,

Somehow I’ve just started this mild obsession with sea salt and rock salt from around the world. I am trying to figure out a way to trade salt with people around the world without paying anything more than postage. I don’t want to make any money off the venture, I would just like to start a collection of salt from around the world and join in with other crazy people who also would like to build a collection. If anyone has any interest or ideas please post.

My best to all,

Robert

Give it some time and this post will be peppered with replies.

Read Mark Kurlansky's book on salt, Robert - and his one on cod too. (Assuming you haven't read them already.)

Noted with thanks, Robert.

Niner: I missed that excellent pun from ye on first reading. But it's definitely the one to beat, so far, for the LPTTGS Punner of the Year Award.

Love Kurlansky's books, especially "Cod".

On Diners, Drive ins and Dives+ and +Man vs Food they seem to use Kosher salt in all the recipes . . . even the ones for pork and shellfish. Why is that?

#8 probably because it's pure salt. And the large grains dissolve more slowly and disperse well. The table salt, ("Windsor" brand) sold by the box in NS includes sugar, believe it or not.
