I don't remember Grecian ever posting anything about food
As I recall, he was eloquent about pasties, but I forget what kind of crimp he preferred. Although Grecian and I didn't always get along, I did enjoy the time he organized a group book read of a chef's autobiography. I can't find the thread--it would help if I could remember which handle Grecian was using at the time.
Speaking of people who are missed, while trying to find the group read, I hit Beekeeper's posts about teaching modern beekeeping methods to locals in Iraqi Kurdistan. hot stuff and Lunch in Iraq And an interesting thread featuring both Grecian & Beekeeper Honey . There are a few arguments that can be skipped over.
#32, as i seem to remember he and Christyboy used to go on and on about the delights of the Cornish pastie, and the correct crimping of it and everything about it.

By the time I started showing up here, there were still joking references to top crimps and side crimps, and to couscous, but I missed the threads where Grecian had talked about that stuff. I really don't remember anything from him except insults to other posters, which sometimes, as noted above, had some food connection.
While trying to find that group book read, I discovered that one of Grecian's handles was Top_Crimp, which I think answers the question.
I also remember being told by him not to make my own stock, just buy a couple of Oxo cubes. BTW, he still posts at the WOS branch, and goes by the handle of Pubez thesedays.

He got really worked up at the idea of people saving celery bottoms and turnip peels etc in the freezer for stockmaking purposes. I can understand choosing not to bother, but he was really offended at the idea that anyone would do it. I didn't get it. Still don't. But then I never understood why you'd go on a thread just to yell at people.
