Cooked a Paella for the folks today and decided to do it on the barbie. I've got one of those big Spanish paella pans that came with a double ring gas burner and although is works OK the BBQ was much better giving a totally even distribution of heat. Any BBQ will do as long as it is big enough to fit your pan on over the coals. Most importantly it resulted in a great crust on the bottom of the pan, essential for a good paella but very difficult to acheive when cooking over a flame. I suppose it is as close as I could get a home to cooking it over an open fire as authentic paellas are made.

Not far off WriteOn, thw pan looks exacltly the same as my one but I garnished it with mussels and king prawns (one for each person x 8) as opposed to langoustines. That said I prefer langoustines but they are difficult to get hold of in these parts.
