Fresh fish doesn't taste 'fishy' at all.
Cupcakes! Yes, they are good, but what the heck is up with these gourmet cupcakeries everywhere?

#97 - that really puzzles me too. When other pastry shops sell a wide range of products, how can shops selling nothing, or little, but cupcakes be a paying proposition?
I know this will horrify most people, but I'm going to say it:
Coffee. I hate it. I love the smell, but I hate coffee. And anything coffee-flavoured. Hating something might be different to simply thinking it's overrated though. I guess I can understand how the addicts need their caffeine boost :P
I'll add another vote for Krispy Kreme donuts. For years I loved them - was only able to get them when I travelled to Sydney (there are only a handful of KKs in Australia) but I'd say in the last two years they have gone decidedly downhill, aside from the standard glazed, cinnamon, and chocolate-iced varieties. I've never tasted an American Krispy Kreme donut though, so can't say if they are any better or worse.
wanderlily, I don't think #72 was snarky or petty. The issue he raised is an important one for posters on TT and not petty at all. Writing such large paragraphs is likely to leave your comment largely unread, except perhaps in more specific threads where someone has requested all the information being given. And he wasn't rude (snarky) in the way he said it either.

Lobster is most definitely overrated -- too tough and chewy, and since it spends extra time in your mouth, you have even more of an opportunity to realise that it's not very tasty. Give me crabs or prawns instead any time.
Smoked salmon has become the scourge of France, inevitably the inferior farmed versions.
However, I read yesterday that now more than 50% of all fish eaten in France is farmed. There just aren't enough wild fish to go around anymore. Oh well, we don't eat wild cows either.
