I always grow garlic but this year I bought real garlic parent stock from a French grower who was at York's Continental Market. The results have been magnifique. Normally we end up with bulbs about 2" in circumference, but this year the best was ELEVEN inches in circumference. I harvested them and had them drying in the gazebo (?). This weekend the largest has 'disappeared'. My only clues are that I overheard a guest couple say 'exhibition' and 'village hall'.

Here's charitably hoping that they intend to include your name as grower on the entry and surprise you with a blue ribbon and large cash prize.

Take your initial estimate, double that and add 20 percent.
It always takes more time and money than you think it should.

I'd check the breath of your neighbo(u)rhood squirrels. Eleven inches? I'd call you a liar if I didn't know better. Outstanding. The only thing in my garden approaching eleven inches is the bok choy. But its been a poor year for gardening 'round here.

Don't get mad, get even. Track them down and denounce them at the prizegiving ceremony.

Practice standing on a chair and singing 'It Should Have Been Me'.
