Grind up some fresh ginger in it. That'll take care of the 'sweet'. Although, as long as one does not actually add sugar to such a thing, my opinion would be to accept the natural flavor, even if it seems somewhat disconcerting at first.

I made Circassian Chicken that was too sweet. I think it must have been the walnuts. Not having had the dish before, I wasn't sure what it should taste like, but, since that time, I had a small portion in a restaurant, and it was not sweet like that. Now I have to figure out what to do to adjust this ...

I am pretty surprised that people would suggest putting ginger, celery root or turnip in split pea soup. Ick.

It was the new onions that were the problem, I make the same mistake with jalapeƱos and garlic.

JalapeƱos and garlic vary in there strengths, and I got into a habit of using the same amount.

Celery I agree does go well in it and I'm not a huge celery fan.. just chop it finely.
