No, oddly enough. It looks good too. I'm guessing it's just Bologna w/ olives mixed in? I shall try a 1/2 pound on my next shopping excursion!
Normally, nothing. I'm a vegetarian so meats are out of the question, and grocery stores here just don't have good cheese selections. I did go out to the Italian deli this afternoon, and picked up some parmesan, pecorino and fresh mozzarella from their deli.
Most supermarkets here have salads in the deli section, and sometimes I'll get some salad for lunch at work. However, these salads can be really hit or miss. I love pretty much anything that comes from the health food store's "deli" section, but stuff from Safeway and Co-op (the two major supermarkets here) is pretty consistently below-average.
#7 Yeah, that's why Japanese housewives are so pissed off they have to cook every day. You'd think they'd embrace the idea of cooking a huge pot o' food , and having leftovers for the next day (like we do in my house!).
I've had olive loaf. Not awful, but it would never be a favorite of mine. I've also had the weird Macaroni and Cheese Loaf. Chunks of bland yellow cheese and cooked elbow macs, stuck in a matrix of mystery meat.

Here in the UK, the cheddar is better at the cheese counter than the packed stuff. It doesn't last long enough for us to worry about best before dates.
we very rarely get some ham or olives from the adjacent deli counter, but that's about it. everything else is made from scratch.
Midwesterner, I would be much more worried about the deli salad than about the delicheese and meat. different culture/habits, I believe.
That's what makes this branch interesting. thank you, everyone!
