Had cous cous for lunch today with:
spring onions
chickpeas
pine nuts
pomegranate seeds
apricots
Coriander
Topped with chicken and a blob of tzatziki.
Very tasty, but haven't had any stirrings yet.

I get the impression that most people here just mean the cracked wheat when they refer to couscous and not the North African dish called couscous. If I had couscous grain all by itself, I would just throw it in the garbage.

In the rubbish bin?
It is sold as couscous, how is it marketed in France?
couscous
noun
1. A pasta of North African origin made of crushed and steamed semolina.
2. A North African dish consisting of pasta steamed with a meat and vegetable stew.
(French, from Arabic kuskus, from kaskasa, to pulverize)

I prefer bulghur wheat for texture. This said, I believe the only cous cous I can find - even in Asian grocers (which I accept are hardly African) - is pre-cooked and so not the real stuff.
Nicksun, sorry to have overlooked your question. The grain is sold as "semoule" in France.
