Two weeks ago in St Petersburg (Russia) I ate beaver.

The restaurant offered it stewed or on barbecue and I chose the second one.
It was served with a crowberrysauce.

It was the first time that I saw beaver meat on a menu.

Have you eaten it?
Where in the world have you eaten it?

I'm not averse to a little beaver munching but in a restaurant it would be a bit too public...

In Sapa, Vietnam, the restaurants like to offer every imaginable animal on the menu -- beaver, bear, raccoon, etc.

But it is an unusual region. The Hmong tribes of the region have their own language, but they have learned English with all of the tourists from various countries. However, many of them do not speak Vietnamese. The Vietnamese tourists from Hanoi actually have to speak to them in English to buy handicrafts and drugs.

I had stir-fried beaver with veggies here in Canada. The veggies were overdone so it sort of spoiled the effect. Crowberry sauce would be good, I imagine, though I've had it more often as a jam.
