Hi all,
Here's my dilemma - I've always been career-minded and although I'm only 22, I have reached a high point in my career and am starting to burn out (as I went straight from school, to uni, to a 6-day-a-week career).
My idea is a mid-career gap:
Go to Singapore to see a friend in September -> then Vietnam for 6 months to teach English -> meet friends and do a China tour for 4 weeks -> go to the UK/Europe to visit friends and explore -> then end up in either Vietnam or China for a longer…
Hi TT'ers,
Ive searched and found bits of info but nothing specific to my question so here goes. Im a travelling newbie and I plan to Fly to Beijing in August 08 and travel overland to Singapore Rough plan is China (3months); Laos (1month); Thailand(2months); Malaysia(1month); Singapore, before going onto Oz for 12months. I will be travelling on my own and i think im actually looking forward to going solo - nothing like challenging yourself! :)
Now some NP's and other remote areas im planning…
I'm sure this as been addressed here before, but I can't seem to find it.
Hello fellow travelers. I am in the planning stages of a great adventure through Central and South America, then on to Thailand/Vietnam/Cambodia/Bali?? and India (where I want to spend at least 2 months).
I have about 1 year and $30,000 US.
My goals for this trip are:
1) To travel primarily overland by bus/train.
2) To find some great spots to spend substantial time in, hopefully by volunteering in schools, orphanages…
I was recently denied boarding on a KLM flight from Amsterdam to Tokyo since the flight was overbooked. As compensation, they gave me 600 euro in cash, a first class ticket to Seoul, with a 32 hours stop-over (which I asked for, originally it was 3 hours, but I've always wanted to visit Seoul), and an onward flight to Tokyo. I also got some dinner coupons, phone card, 50 euro discount for future flight... Quite a good deal. I'm now wondering how I can increase my chances of being denied boarding…
I'm curious what happens if a traveler's visa is about to expire, but he manages to get his passport stolen right before that. Then he would not be able to leave the country. Would this be a loophole in the system to stay longer in a country than one is allowed?
I am asking because a friend of mine just lost his passport in Peru, and had to wait 10 days to get a new one! During this time he freely roamed around the country.
hello all, im definatly a newb on these forums, but im pretty sure no ones asked this exact question before so here goes
I will be in India from October of this year until mid January of next year doing some volunteer work followed by some solo travel.. but thats not what i need help with.. i have a couple possible plans for what to do next but am having lots of trouble picking which one so any insight anyone has would be great.

I am just about to buy a 4 continent One World Explorer ticket. This is a fair outlay for our family so I thought I would just check that I am not missing anything. Two concerns I have 1) our agent indicates that not all seat are available for this class of travel and I'm worried about not getting seats when we want them. This is already a problem for Sydney to Manila and we are week off of the flights we want. Any comments on flight availablilty for 4 people. 2) after alot of research and…
hello everyone..
my partner and i are moving to new zealand from london and we're looking at flights right now... but here's the thing: we need to stop at home, in toronto canada, then vancouver, then new zealand, where we're staying. does anyone know of any flights that might cover something like this? the problem seems to be that we're not carrying on after new zealand, or at least not immediately, so round the world flights are out, for the most part. there must be something less costly…
I have decided to start savings for a round the world trip. Japan, NZ and Aus are on my list and none of them are cheap! so realistically it will probaley take me about three years to save. I live in The UK so the rest of Europe is within easy reach and the idea of three years without a holiday fills me with dread! Did you have holidays while saving for your trip? Did you make a budget whilst saving for your rtw and manage to stick to it? Did your budget suffice when you finally made it on…
