Hi All,

ok I am taking the plunge and am planning a trip around asia on my own (others have either piked or would rather europe). Does anyone have any advice on where to begin and what to do when you travel on your own? I guess my main concern is where do I start and what sort of places do I stay away from.

I am hoping to meet new people along the way and i'm really interested in doing some volunteer work, also has anyone worked in asia while travelling and how do you do that (as in do you…

Okay am currently in the UK and want to return to Melbourne via a 2-3 month trip in Mexico and Central America. I am beginning to realise that a flight like this will be very very expensive! I would love any suggestions for how to minimise how much this is going to cost me so that I can spend more money on cocktails in the sun!

Seems my options are as follows:

1) London-Mexico, then Los Angeles to Melbourne (with me buying a ticket from where I end up in Central America to Los Angeles through…

HI All,
I plan on going back to Brazil next year for about 6 months.
Ideally I would like an RTW ticket which enables me to go to Brazil but not too worried where else it goes.
Any ideas or hints if such a ticket exists at a not ridiculous price?
Thanks and regards

hi !

I want to take a gap year from september and travel around the world. First,I would like to find a job abroad,4-5-6 month long , to make money for my travel. I am a student so I don't have a large bank account, but I want to cover all my costs myself. Is that possible? For those , who have done this so far: can you give me some advice where to find a job or what kind of work to do? . I am hungarian so unfortunately I can not get a working visa for Australia and for the U.S. I would…

I am on leaving on a RTW at the end of July. I figured out a somewhat budget, places I want to visit, vaccinations/heath issues, issues while away from home (mail, bills, etc.).

I still have to get insurance and RTW ticket. Do you think I am leaving enough time, between now and then, to get these items (especially the RTW ticket)?

Hey all!

Me and my girlfriend are planning a round the world trip lasting approximately 6 months with take-off December / January. We are in the midst of budget planning and are wondering if $10,000 (USD) each is sufficient for the following (excluding RTW fare, insurance and first safari)

Jumping off the safari and heading to MOZAMBIQUE - 2 weeks
then bus to Jo'burg, flight to buenos aires
South america (argentina, peru, bolivia) 1,5 MONTHS
Central america 2 MONTHS
MEXICO 2 WEEKS
Flight to Sydney…

Hi,

Next year I am considering a 5-6 month gap program teaching English as a foreigh langauge, possibly in Poland.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit about Poland as i have never been before. Also if anyone has been apart of a gap year program or exchange program could you please tell me some of the positives and negatives, as i have no idea what to expect. It would be such a great help.

Thanks!

Hi, just wondered what everyone's thoughts were on travel blogs. There seem to be so many, it's hard to know which to choose. I'm not really sure how they work, but in an ideal world I'd like to plot our trip on a google style map as we go (in the same way as Nike's 'runlondon' site works, where you can literally show the exact path you took) and then attach photos, video clips and text to the places on the map that they correspond with. I imagine people could then click on some icons to view…

I forgot to clearly mark my earlier post as a question. So here goes again:

Our travel style is to stay in a city or town for some weeks or months, explore out of there, and then move on. Besides local newspapers, we're looking for good sources from which to locate budget accomodations for weekly or monthly rates (apartments, home-stays, cabins, etc). So far we've only located websites offering fairly expensive houses and apartments and those in limited locations.

Does anyone know of a…
