So I have this crazy plan.

I don't want to give too much away at this stage, but let's just say that it involves two wheels and around 6400 kilometers.

I would dearly love to hear from anyone out there who has cycled through any of the following countries and survived to post on this forum:
- Serbia
- Bulgaria
- Iran
- Pakistan

Any takers want to come with me?

Hello all

I'm new to this forum but could really use some advise. I booked a 3 month trip - flying to Cuba first, then Mexico, then on to San Fransisco in the US for 2 weeks then back to Mexico and then traveling to Brazil flying home from Rio...

What I want to know is is the fact I am going to Cuba first and coming to USA via Mexico going to make life difficult getting into US? I know I'll need a visa but is it the same as if I was coming from UK (ie Visa Waiver)?

Would love to know your…

Hey, so i've decided to take the plunge and quit my dull, dull job and go travelling for 10/12 months.

I'm a 23 year old male from London. My job in finance is killing me and I'm at a point where I need to leave the constraints of western culture for a period and experience the rest of the world, talk to like minded people and read a shed load of books.

So what do you think of my current plan? I've looked through 30 pages of the RTW forum to settle at this so far.

Feb 2014 - arrive in Rio and…

Ok so I plan on backpacking through europe after I finish studying for my bachelors, and I want to possibly kill any over ambitious fantasies I may have before I start planning. This will be my first solo trip and first time out of the Oceaiena area. I'm planning to go around my 22nd birthday and I'm from Australia. I've done my reading so I have some idea of what to expect an what I want to do, but I would like some seasoned travellers to answer some questions i have and to 'set me straight' as…

Hi all!

I am just in the process of planning a round the world trip for a couple of years time. This is proving much more difficult than I originally thought due to the seasons in each country, however after a lot of planning we've come up with a provisional route:

Leave UK around feb-march time for brazil.
Travel through South America and up to Mexico for 6-7 months
Arrive australia/new Zealand via fiji and possibly l.a. Around August for 3ish months.
Leave for Indonesia mid October (before…

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum so this will be my first post.
I've worked in the travel industry for many years specializing in Adventure Travel and finally I think I'm in a position to be able to consider taking a 1 year sabbatical and travelling around Asia.
I've toured around Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia before along with lots of other places (but always on organised tours) but I'm really finding it difficult to get into the 'Backpacker' mindset and figure out a budget for this trip.

I'm…

Hello all!

This story might be a bit long winded but I wanted to give you a good back round, so please bear with me, I appreciate all your help!

Myself and my boyfriend have been planning a round the world trip, and we were planning to go Feb-March probably in 2015 (just to give us that extra chance to do a wee bit of saving.) We both have jobs and therefore can only go for 6 weeks. We had planned to take the route of UK> Bangkok> Sydney> Auckland> L.a> Over land to New york. We realise that…

My boyfriend and I are planning a 16-22 month round the world trip to India, China, Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand) and Australia and are looking for some advice. We're planning to leave mid Sept. and visit the destinations in the above order, starting with India. We will have a total budget of around £20,000 and will also try to find jobs on a Working Holiday visa in Oz. We've already done some research re visas, jabs, cost of flights, and other travel costs. We're planning…

I really want to buy a RTW ticket for 2014 and travel for a year or so with my fiance. It's something I've always wanted.

When I talk to other people about it though, they look at me like I'm nuts. Does this happen frequently with others on this forum, or are "travelers" "travelers" because their parents supported them and they had other friends with similar interests etc?

I don't know anyone who likes to travel like I do. I actually joined this forum because I have no one to talk to about it.
