Hi,

What are some good / easy to use travel blog sites? I would like to document my RTW experience, post photos, etc. for friends and family back home.

Thank you for your recommendations.

Try Travelpod.com It is very easy to use and we had no problems with it. the good thing is that it is free.

Search Vannhansen for our RTW trip That we finished up this March.

Try to google travel blog and other variations. There are a lot of options from memory and most of them will allow you to play and sometimes even try their program. Some are free some have charges (cheap mostly and generally allowing you more space for your photos).

My own choice, after trying most of them (at the time) was to set up my own. Though I find it easy (sort of) now there is a huge learning curve but I think it is worth it.

Sorry I would give you a list of some of what is available out there but I've changed laptops and most of the info regarding those different options and what I thought of them were on my old computer not this one.

This one is the best I think:

http://www.blogger.com/[L=]http://www.blogger.com[/L]

It's very easy to set up, post new entries, upload pictures etc... It's free as well.

I take it you will be writing on it from internet cafes so you don't want something too technical, so this one would work best.

Thank you popstarz2000. Yes I will be working from internet cafes so don't want to use a site that takes forever to render should I have a slow connection (which is likely I'm sure). Some of the options have so many advertisements which adds to this problem. Mytripjournal.com looks clean and nice but I believe you have to pay (eventually, after the trial period).

I will look at blogger.com

Thanks again for the feedback eveyone. Enjoyed the pics vannhansen.

I also suggest blogger. Once you create your google/blogger account, you also get picasaweb for free where you can post your photos. I've seen several people using blogger and linking to their picasa we gallery for more photos.

There's also getjealous.com. Personally, I intend to use my existing bebo/facebook pages; there's very little on a travel blog that I couldn't incorporate into them.

I've also started using getjealous and think it's the best that I've looked at (boots'n'all blog pages and travelpod - I think) No ads, very easy to navigate and use and looks good. The free version only has storage for 30photos but you can upgrade it if you want.

One note about blogger...I've found it is often blocked on certain servers in countries where the Internet is more regulated. About half of the time I was in China and now in Vietnam, I couldn't access it. I had spent about a week at home setting up my blogger site only to find I couldn't access it from the places I tried in Beijing, my first stop...I do like blogger, though, and had used it for over a year for my personal blog before I started traveling...

I ended up buying a site through Yahoo! and use the wordpress option that comes with it. It's not nearly as easy to use as blogger, but I've found it much more reliable while abroad.

Great to read through all your thoughts..this is my first post. Am going on exchange to Australia for a year in January...would like to be able to set up a blog before I go so I can send pics back to class and another to family and friends. Any advice appreciated! Will try the ones mentioned here.
