Hey, I've been looking at a RTW trip. A few months back while on a two week holiday as there wan't much to do in the day I speant a lot of time reading and managed to get through two books. I want to do a Masters at some point and so want be prapared for it. So, I was thinking of taking some books with me and studying them when I've got time during my RTW trip. My my convern is the extra room the books will take and not having the time to read them. Anyone tried this before? or any advice? James
I'm guessing the 2 week holiday was to a beach or resort???? Most of us when actually travelling need to take rest days every week or so to recover! I tried combining working and traveling on my last trip - it was disaster not the trip -the work bit! If you genuinely can't work out what you will be doing during the day on a trip perhaps you should stay home and study!

For most Masters programmes you will need to take quite a few books, and books are very heavy to carry around, as well as adding to your baggage weight on any flights you take. And doing a Masters isn't just about reading - what about assignments, classwork (even online courses require some interaction with other participants), research etc.?
I tend to agree with the first reply - why are you bothering to travel if you're going to spend all the time reading books that you could more easily read at home?

I went and lived in NY for a summer but had to take books to study as I had college exams to take on my return. I didn't open my books at all infact they were left in my bag for the 3 months and forgot about when I was there, I found it impossible. You need to be in that frame of mind and really want to do it but for me personally I just couldn't I was in holiday mode and studying was the last thing on my mind!!! But again it's what you think you can do yourself!!!
