Star Alliance RTW Ticket PriceInterest forums / Gap Year & Round the World Travel
Hi- Does anyone know the mileage brackets and costs using the Star Alliance RTW ticket, particularly in regards to country of origin? I can't seem to find it, and this seems like such an elementary thing that I'm thinking I must be accidentally overlooking it. Thanks!
Unfortunately Star Alliance doesn't have a central point (unlike Oneworld) where you can see prices by country of origin. The mileage brackets are 26,000 miles (economy only and not all origin countries offer this one,) 29,000 miles, 34,000 and 39,000 miles. Where do you think you'd start? | 1
Thanks. I'm from the USA so I'd be starting from here, but I've noticed getting a rtw ticket starting in the US often seems more expensive than it's worth. So I was interested in places like the UK where it seems worth one's while to go as a first destination on a cheap one-way ticket and pick up the route from there... Doing that route requires a bit more planning than usual though obviously. | 2
In the US prices are $4069 for STAR1, $4687 for STAR2 and $5511 for STAR3, 29 K, 34K and 39K miles respectively. Prices in Britain are around $1100 cheaper for STAR1, $1000 cheaper for STAR2, and actually more (by around $300) for STAR3. Prices out of NZ and Australia are comparable to the UK prices at the low end, cheaper for longer itineraries, but not by much. The dollar's weakness against other currencies is really showing. | 3
