Hi Guys!

I'm after some advise on everything really, how to do it, how much, and any other tips!

I'm planning on starting in South America specifically Argentina, Brazil, Belize, Peru, Costa Rica then heading to
Africa, Botswana and heading north to Uganda trying to visit Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia and Kenya then to India and East across to Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Borneo and finishing in Indonesia

In regards to getting places I'm planning on trying to make my way round each continent by foot/bike/hitchhiking. I don't have a fixed amount of time so would prefer to not get a RTW ticket as if I like somewhere I may stay there for longer or even go somewhere unplanned. I have a few specific places I'd like to visit in each country but not essential, just want to get out and see the world! However if anyone has any tips on places to visit whilst in these places that would be great!

Any advice, tips or questions would be greatly appreciated!

Hey,

I am quitting my job to do the same next July...gives me more time to save. I've started budgeting and made a list of all the places I want to go and how long for with major sights while I am there. I then started to go on hostel bookers/world to see how much hostels will cost - to give me an idea of costs. I am also going to Australia and NZ - you need to budget more for South America.

Just add on an extra 20% to your budget and you should have a rough idea of how much you need.
Where you flying from?

If the UK - Go to SE Asia first then Africa the Americas - I think:) Try to get cheap flights or get buses to save even more where possible. I've traveled loads but for the longest time of 6 weeks - I am not used to budgeting but I am quitting my job next year and hopefully will have about £18,000 for a year of travel. Look on travel blogs of people who have gone away...some really inspiring stories.

If you want something bad....you can do it:)

Hope that helps

Thanks, that's really helpful!

Yeah starting from the UK, why do you think it would be best to start in SE Asia?
I've done a bit, longest for 6 weeks across Tanzania when I was 17 and have had the bug ever since!
I'm only really planning on doing 4/5 flights, apart from that making my way to each part any means I can!

I was thinking about AUZ and NZ but I think I'll do that another time and work for a while out there.

Thanks again!

Are you aware of the Darien Gap between South and Central America?

You'll probably need to fly from India to South East Asia.

Did not think of that actually, thanks!

Travelling by foot/bike etc will be priority but if there is no other option obviously I will fly.
