To be honest I can't think of anything comparable to going down the Congo to Kinshasa (not that I've done it mind you) - maybe crossing more remote parts the Amazon (not going down the Amazon river itself as that's very tame in comparison) or crossing Kalimatan from end to end?

Hey hey toad....Under current conditions I think it might be interesting to be looking into the Kinshasa/Brazzaville area. Very cautiously. Borders are always interesting....dueling capitals I would think would make it more so....gotta find out...But for places like this I think it best to actually meet up with someone along the way who has been there.

The 2 big lakes and Victoria Falls areas seem to be the most interesting places to hang around for more extended periods of time....to network and assess....

I agree with the Amazon comment

Kinshasa/Brazzaville is fine as far as I know. With a bit of luck I'll be heading over that way in a few months. Other parts of the Congo are a lot more hardcore.

Hoping to go to Congo Brazzaville for work and just hop over to Kinshasa for a couple days, only a short trip.

Are you going overland to Brazzaville? What kind of work?

No, no, flying into Brazzaville, as I said just a short trip - I work for a tour operator - we have a new tour in Congo.

I have visions of Brazzaville/Kinshasa border of being somewhat like that of Colombia/Brasil/Peru's on the Amazon...although a little more hectic and intimidating...

Toad.... can you give me a link for that Congo tour information.

Is that still allowed on here?!
