Hi
I'm spending the first 4 months of a year out teaching in southern India and would really appreciate comments on my broad itinerary for the rest of the time - are the timings about right? Weatherwise, I know these aren't the best times for Australia or south America - has anyone had experience of these places in those months? I'm a 30-year-old female travelling on my own.
Feb/Mar 2008: 6 weeks Delhi - Jaipur - Agra - Kathmandu - Delhi
April: 2 days Hong Kong then train to Hanoi
April/May: 7 weeks Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia - Bangkok, Thailand
May: 3 weeks Bangkok - Peninsular Malaysia - Singapore
June: 4 weeks Cairns - Brisbane - Sydney
July: 2 weeks Sydney (meeting friend)
Aug/Sept: 8 weeks Santiago - Argentina - Lima
Oct: 3 weeks Los Angeles - San Francisco (meeting a friend)
Thanks very much.

well actually June-august (winter) IS the best time to go to Cairns in Australia. Summer its unbearably humid, its the wet season, the cyclone season and there are marine stingers about! a sunny day in Cairns in winter is VERY pleasant. It is warm enough to swim in the ocean and in hotel pools. Brisbane won't be too bad in June either, Sydney could be quite cold - but no where near freezing and it never snows in Sydney.

I've done south america july-august and it's great, though hot. The only problem with you going through sept. is you get dangerously close to very wet, depending on where you're at.

SEA is going to be hot, but should be doable. If you have more time than 7 weeks, I would recommend it. I've been to Peru in September & the weather was great. It was a bit chilly at night in the Andes, but very pleasant during the day.
