In fear of being a little premature here... I am looking at a RWT in 2014. There will be myself and my other half who both have a love of music. Before you ask, all kinds!!

Before getting to the nitty gritty of really narrowing down where we want to go, we are gathering as much information as we can to try and decide that way what really captures our imaginations.

After looking on the net, it seems there isn't really a site that pin points everything and anything festivals wise? As expected to be fair... who can pin point EVERYTHING and put it on one site!?

Not just with music but also festivals of culture, carnivals, and general significant dates that are celebrated with large groups of people in towns/cities worldwide.

I'm not asking for anyone to do the research, just a simple question of opinions? Calling all people out there who have been to festivals worldwide?

What was it? Where was it? Would you recommend it? If yes, why? If not, please expand?

All stories greatly welcomed!!!

Have a look at the Rainforest World Music Festival in Kuching,Borneo (Malaysia)...held every year in July over 3 days.

Well worth the trip....a very diverse line up,and Sarawak is a great region to spend a week or two in.......

Festival Nautic & Music in Bonifacio, Corsica in October. Music played on stage and in the streets of Bonifacio over a period of 7-10 days. Musicians from around the world playing in many different genre.

What's so special is the location. The Festival takes place up in the walled 'old town'. While at the same time a classic yacht regatta is in the harbour.

There are some great death/black/symphonic metal festivals all over the Nordics, as well as Germany... who are also renowned for their Goth/Industrial/EBM/Electronic music festivals. (I'm a bit biased in that direction).

I love the term symphonic metal. Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Festival du Desert (used to be held north of Timbuktu, then in Timbuktu and this year, due to the problems in Mali it's being held in Burkina Faso - I heard that they're considering moving it to different locations around West Africa).

Lake of Stars - in a different location on the shores of Lake Malawi every year
