SEAsia's always a good option - a small Thailand,Laos, Cambodia loop perhaps?

I know this is a little early but I intend to take a long vacation (approx five weeks) around Christmas and NYE, and I am keen on inventing the possibilities thoroughly.

Of course I want to have some fun during the holiday season. And I like swimming and watersports, beautiful places, some interesting things to see and some relaxing.

What destination(s) would you suggest?
It can be anywhere in the world. Not luxury and too expensive.

Thanks
SnT

All interesting places culturally with a lot to see and do.....

So many places, stick a pin in a map of the world. SE Asia is amazing, but then so is India, S.America, Central America ...

Thank you for your answers.
Does anyone have any good experience during the Christmas/New year season from a specific place?

Well you say nothing about where you are starting from or what kind of overall budget you have for your 5 weeks. So if that doesn't matter then I would opt for 5 weeks in the British Virgin Islands on a sail boat. The NYE party at Foxy's Bar on Jost Van Dyke island is one of the most memorable NYE parties I have ever attended and I've had some memorable ones. Google Foxy's Bar BVI to read more on this iconic bar and Foxy himself.

Thanks, TI46. This seems exciting!
That would be a new experience for me, have never been at that part of the world.
Is the weather OK at this time of the year (no hurricanes etc)?

Hello! I'll be spending two weeks before Christmas in Johannesburg, Kruger National Park, and Cape Town South Africa, and am planning on spending Christmas/New Years somewhere else. I'll be travelling alone for the last 15 days of the trip and cannot wait, but I'm also struggling to find locations that may accommodate a solo female traveler who won't have a Christmas companion. Ha. Let me know how your research goes. I'd be interested to see what you find!
