you know. Good.

Umm, the prices I gave were including the USA and SEA Alex.
Neverwinter raises a good point. Employer coverage in Australia is fine if you are happy to stay in Australia while you recover from an illness/accident. But as you know from your experience with your grandfather, flying someone home is very expensive and will not be covered by either the employer coverage or the NHS. So travel insurance is the only way to cover that.
Needing to spend 6 months in a hospital and in therapy, recovering from a road accident and having to do it alone and in a foreign country is not what most people would want to do.
In your own case Alex if you are happy with the insurance you have bought for 2 years, I would suggest that at the end of the 2 years you buy a new policy from a provider such as WN who will allow you to buy a policy while already 'on the road'. Peace of mind with coverage for your entire time away for an extra 113 GBP for those six months.
