Hey ForeverMoving (love the name, by the way). If you really wanted to go off the beaten path - and, building on your Indonesia proposal - have you thought about Western Papua? Amazing wildlife. If you're curious have a scan of this...

A friend of mine went there late last year and did some quality mountain trekking, which it sounds like you're into!

P.S. If you are still thinking maybe the Philippines I say check out Palawan which seems on-the-up as a destination: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/philippines/palawan

Hmmm - he hasn't really said anything that suggests he wants to get off the beaten path.

"I think that's a good reason to go - to see what it's really like compared with what you might have heard."

-true but its always worth considering!

At the moment I am still torn between the idea of Indonesia and Barcelona... I really like how Barcelona is close to France, and even Greece... Also considering dipping into some savings to make Europe more practical if I do opt for it.

Barcelona or Papua........that is some contrast.

Two of the most opposite type of places possible ;-)

Exactly! I loved going from the Himalayas to the tropical beaches of Thailand. I think it'd only be appropriate to continue switching it up rather than staying in a similar area to make the most of my travels.
