Need Help.

its always hard to give accurate budget advice for a long trip across many countries when you dont know the persons travel habits so maybe more information needed.

how long would you estimate for each country?
will you plan on cheap bus/train travel or look at flights?
cheap hostels or midrange budget accomdation?
planning on partying and drinking a good bit?
do you mind eating cheap street food, cooking meals in hostels or plan on eating out most of time?
do you want a budget estimate all inclusive to include all your preparation costs.....visa's, vaccinations, flights, travel insurance and the million other small costs that will add up

in terms of the daily costs for each country my experiences as a backpacker on a very tight budget was (not been to Guatamala or Indonesia yet)
Bolivia 30 euro per day
Brazil 40-45 euro per day
India 25 -30 euro per day
Vietnam 30 euro per day

you also need to bear in mind that (unless your circumstances allow it) you cant just show up in Oz and work you will need a Working Holiday Visa and sufficient funds in a bank account.

i know each person has their own reasons for visiting different regions but it dont really make sense to me to go all the way to Central America and just got to Guatamala and then to South America for just Brazil and Bolovia. if you really do want to end up in Oz on a working visa i suggest a more logical plan would be to spend the first year in central and south america then arrive in Oz and hopefully get work for a year and then travel home via Asia

I plan on booking a round the world trip , therefore will have 6 destinations , but to travel in between ( Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam ect ) all buses

its not a priority but i do plan on having a couple of nights out!

RE: oz I have family there so thats just an idea.

Im thinking of doing just south america:

1:Brazil : Rio / Amazon Jungle
2: Argentina: Falls
3: Peru Machu piccu
4: Bolivia
and any other suggestions, on what everyone thinks is worth it.

I want do around 5 months in south america

then do 3 months in India
then go round Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, maybe Burma and Thailand. and Indonesia. ( these are all just ideas, i will cut down to whatever I end up thinking will be better)

any then see if the Australia N/Z would work but at this point they are not priorities might leave them for another trip

It might be cheaper and would definitely give you more flexibility if you just book individual flights rather than getting a RTW ticket.

I'd say Indonesia requires the same sort of budget as Bolivia or Vietnam. Argentina a lot more, say twice as much.

I'd agree on the individual tickets...rather than a RTW.

Fly to the area you most want to see,and stay around there until you are bored or run out of money.

Then either fly home or on to another area.....

On the approx. costs (depends on many things of course)...most expensive will be Brazil.Then Argentina.They are almost Western European prices.

The others are all much cheaper (except Burma,where prices are rising very rapidly...still cheaper than those 2 though).

Cheapest of all will be Cambodia and most of Indonesia.

I can't think of 6 different countries that sound better than your planned combination. So from me, you get an A+ for country selection. But, you don't need to limit your trip so much in that way. If you can get to Bolivia, it's easy and cheap to go to Peru, for instance. From Vietnam, it's easy and cheap to get yourself to Siam Reap or anywhere in Cambodia. And the list of cheaply reached related destinations goes on.

The travel cost advice from #! sounds good to me, as long as you're backpacking and staying in cheaper places. Don't assume that the backpacker popular places in South America are the cheapest way to go. Often the well known hostels catering to gringos are 30% more expensive than places locals would choose.

My budget not including flights would be

10 000 euros ( 13,312.54 USD)

My plan is pick two spots to fly to in south america, then bus it, or travel round south america. that's why I am asking for routes people have done to help me out.

then fly to India, and do three months bag packing round India ( maybe enter Nepal or Pakistan too )

then fly to Vietnam, and somehow travel round Laos, Cambodia , Thailand and maybe Burma.

then fly to Indonesia.

everyone is telling me since I am choosing countries that are normally quite cheap to go round about it should be easily done.

i know 10,000 euro sounds like a lot of money but it can disappear quickly while on the road. an average backpacker budget for South America (again country dependent) would be roughly 1200 to 1300 euro per month. India would be cheaper at roughly 900 euro a month so if you are set on 3 months there it may cost about 3000 euro leaving 7000 for south america and se asia. SE Asia will again be another 1000 a month. Vietnam, Lao, Cambodia, Thailand are very easy travel around and i would suggest would need 3 months using up another 3000 which would leave you with a budget of 4000 for South America which could allow for for maybe 3 months if you are set on Brazil & Argentina and then time in Bolivia and Peru. an example route could be
- fly into rio or Sao Paula....a few weeks in that region
- cross into Argentina at the Iquazu Falls.....travel across north of argentina taking in salta
- cross into bolivia at Villazon, head north taking in Salar de Uyuni, Potosi, Sucre, La Paz, lake Titicaca
- head into Peru stopping in Arequipa, Cusco for Machu Picchu trek

after that i not sure which flight route you going to take, options would probaly be from lima or Santiago to asia via the states or oz. i think it would make more sense to arrive in se asia first and then go onto india
