Join me - Europe to India in my overland truck

Interest forums / Gap Year & Round the World Travel

I am thinking about driving from Europe to India and back in my 4x4 truck and would like some people to join me to share expenses. The entire trip would be over a period of a year or more but you could join one six month leg or perhaps even just part of the journey. Aim to depart October 2013

Interesting parts of the route would be: czech-slovakia- hungary-romania-bulgaria-turkey-iran-pakistan-india-nepal and thought about returning through central asia. I would want to do a big tour of india to the south and you could join all or part of this.

The 7 tonne 4WD off road truck is equipped for overlanding, has shower room with hot water and toilet, kitchen corner, fridge, etc. I envisage around six people on the trip and even with big reclining coach seats there will be space for dining-lounging in the cabin if needed because of bad weather. Sleeping – there is a truckers style over-the-cab box for 2 persons, possibly 4 persons in the cabin or roof tents or camping.

This is not a commercial tour and it would be based on shared duties and expenses with food kitty – pre-agreed outline plan and run along democratic principles.

Anyone interested?

This sounds good. I'm planning on getting away around that time of year, just not set any plans yet.

Where are you leaving from? And how much do you see it costing?

Cheers.

hi smivel, sorry for the delay...i am traveling and can only get online infrequently.

not sure where truck will depart from...but may leave it in spain, so anywhere enroute acroiss europe if that is the case.

costs - the fuel would be major cost and at eurpean prices would amount to around 3500 euro shared by the group...havent had chance to check fuel elsewhere but lot cheaper in iran and suppose a bit less than europe in india. food would be mostly bought fresh and prepared by ourswelves, so less than european daily costs.

like i said its not a commercial trip, so want those interested in coming to help with research, planning and will incorporate god ideas

i might not be able to get online for several days but soon after will be home to devote time to this project.

Hi,

I would be very interested in this.

There I was, researching how I can travel overland to India when I came across your post!

I am planning to get to India for the Diwali Festival on November 2nd, travel around India and then head to Australia.

If this fits in with your plans, let me know I would love to speak more.

Thanks!

Aloha Videomaker,

Read your post and I have to say, It sounds like it can be quite the adventure!

My friend and I will be in India from Sept-Dec. If you happen to be anywhere near us, we would love to join you on our trip. We do not have set plans, so with that being said, we are very open to seeing any/all parts of India. That is why this sounds so incising. If you can get back to us at your earliest convenience that would be great. Hope you hare having a wonderful trip and I hope to talk to you soon regarding more information on your trip..

Hi are you still going on this trip??
I have done quite a bit of travelling backpacking.
I have been through Europe, Asia, USA, Pacific and Australia.
I have completed 2 long term trips no.1 just short of 2 years no.2 just short of 18 months.
I would be keen on joining you on this trip as I have been looking at going overland to India myself.
Can you get in touch to let me know if you are still intending to go and if you have room for me.

Hi! I would absolutely Love to go with!
I have always wanted to go overlanding, but not part of a tourgroup. I want to experience every country like the locals do.
I have to finish this year at work though. Would it be possible to join, wherever you are, in February?

Hi there,

I am hoping to leave within the month (sooner rather than later) on an overland trip to India/Australia from UK.

I have all my necessary injections and Indian tourist visa, I am just still figuring out how and where I will travel.

So if this trip is still going, then I would absolutely love to find out more.
Or, if anyone is doing this trip soon, let me know if you'd like to join forces. Or if you have any advice for me, I'd grately appreciate it.

<snip>

Best of luck all!
