This is one of the funniest posts I've seen on the TT...great stuff!

OP...as you aren't bringing a gun to hunt with, are you going to make your own bow and arrows?

This poster posted a similar question a few months ago and was shot down in flames. I don't know why he (it's got to be a he hasn't it?) is posting again. I don't think he's going to get the reassurance he wants from this forum.

He has also posted about travelling illegally in Tibet, which gotan even frostier reception from the forum.

Every man is entitled to his dream and for the true adventurer nothing is impossible. Most people are mainstream (even if they say they're budget) and if you're the maverick you'll find no refuge (as proven in the previously posted advice ). If you're willing to suffer hardship and put your life (and health) at risk, a lot is possible.

A few observations:

Rich countries might be easier than poor countries. It's like pilfering at a rich man's table, rely on pity, provided you're young and white (ie: you look like them). This means you could hitchhike, sleep in ditches (summer), wash at petrol stations (free drinking water) and use other public services (public libraries for free information and many supermarkets providing coffee :)). In poor countries you're expected to pay as you're obviously rich (cause you're white, that is if you're white).

Islamic countries are a good bet as you could profit from the hospitality that those cultures will provide you with. That means: as long as you're well off the beaten track.

Apparently you like Buddhist countries. This might be a miscalculation. You will be considered an imposter. Remember: if you have to beg, you will be having very tough competition from people that look a lot worse than you...
As pointed out above: in Tibet and Bhutan you'll have to resort to illegal conduct or otherwise have to pay way over what you could afford to. That said: my experience in Tibet is that you could sneak in some place or other for free cause no Chinese official would expect you to do things illegal (it's just not their thing) and many Tibetan officials just don't care as it's not in their interest anyway.

PS: I knew I couldn't convince you anyway...

Don't listen to these guys, there are just bubble busting naysayers! Go for it, you can live on road kill, get it fresh enough you do not even have to cook it and you can use the skins for clothing. Working in a foreign third world country is easy, imagine how impressed the locals will be when a educated westerner turns up to tell them how to do things properly.

Good luck and keep us posted on your trip. BTW I love the idea of hunting, nothing get the heart beating like taking on a wolf with a sharpened stick!

To the people that gave at least some advice in their posts, thank you. To those who made posts that were solely sarcastic, doubtful, or mocking, figure out a better way to spend your life then being asses on a travel forum. Don't really think you are in a position to attack me when you spend the time to make useless posts. As for the doubters, yea, the trip is extreme and I doubt many of you would attempt it. I can speak the languages of all but the Asian countries and am learning now. For nrclibn your comment actually made me laugh. As one poster said I was ambitious, optimistic, and blindly naive (probably true, but then the experience can only help) I am not so naive as to think watching Bear Grylls will help me (never even watched the show). Plus, I am not really into being a homosexual prostitute. So I will keep checking up on the forum and to all that offered advice, information, or gave legitimate concerns or doubts with a reason that I can now find ways around, thank you. For some reason some people feel the need to shoot others down because they want to do something others haven't done, can't do, or simply won't do. I don't need reassurance, I am already decided. When I make it back, and I have no doubts that I will, the experience will certainly be worth it. Let people do what they want. Either help them or get out of their way, cause hindering them for no reason makes you such a respectable person. I believe this addresses most posts.

Wow - that's an impressive list of languages if you analyse it. Do you use pidgeon in PNG or one of the dialects?

Than making brain-damaged ideas for travel.

Just another dumbass.

Jairo21, actually, I spend the majority of my time on here giving very useful advice to those who have very practical plans for travel. As do many of the others on here. Telling you straight that your idea is ridiculous for many reasons does not detract from that. And just for the record, do you have any clue at all that you are planning to break the law in many countries? Working illegally? Visa issues? Lets just take hunting and gathering for example, with Oz as just one example, unless you are an Aboriginee, it is ILLEGAL to hunt in the outback! For us to give advice on or support your asinine idea would be moronic at best. And most of us would not attempt your plan, no, because we have COMMON SENSE! We also have a vast experience of actually travelling in many of the countries you want to go to. Travelling frugally is fine, travelling with the plan to camp out and save money is fine. Travelling the way you suggest, is just moronic. And don't worry, I'll get out of your way, I seriously doubt the immigration officials or law enforcement officials in a lot of countrys will though.

Ok, first off, pirate at 50, u have 7k posts on this forum. You are saying that what many would consider ridiculous travel is a worse way to spend time than making posts like the one you just made? And I am a dumbass for not thinking like you? Amazing. You must be the most interesting person in the world. To mike, your post was significantly more useful than some of the others. However, you sound about as narrow minded as Pirate. I'm not critical of your travel that I would consider boring. Thanks for the little useful info you gave. Some people want to live life in unconventional ways. As a side note, I have no intention of breaking the law. If I can not hunt in Australia, then I will not hunt in Australia. Enough said. Now get back to your standard, unadventurous existences.
