Cancelling a trip

Joolz2: No it hasn't. It's a sick relative of my partner, and he doesn't want to go if she's sick or could possibly pass away, and he won't know her condition until well into summer so it's a very will we/won't we situation.

Ok - maybe you don't want to cancel, but might have to defer travelling ?
That might be easier to negotiate (for a fee) with the airline/s concerned.

I think, since the situation is known, that insurance companies wouldn't pay out and you'd be putting good money after bad to insure now.
