I'm trying to set up a web page were you can select how long you're going to be in each country, and then calculate how much it'll cost you, but i need all the data!

What i need is how much it cost you on average for ANY country you went to on a budget. IE: How much it cost for 1 night in a hostel dorm, 3 meals and a little bit of sightseeing.

Preferably in USD$, if possible.

When this is done i'll be putting it live so anyone planning a RTW trip will be able to easily calculate a (rough) estimate of how much things will cost them.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

LOL.

Or like this info in the destination section of LP's website for every country.

Nothing like re-inventing the wheel.

yes, something like savingfortravel.com, but not in british pounds and with much more flexibility like setting your room standards, etc.

and yes, something like lonely planet - im already using that information, but i want some statistics and figures from real people to average it out, plus they don't have much information on some places:
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/andorra/money-and-costs

and some places they are hardly specific:
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/georgia/money-and-costs

anywhere from $6 to $40 for a budget room? that's a $36 difference there...

what i want are actual figures from people, not a rough estimate of $6-$40 per night...

Pounds doesn't suit you, you want it in US dollars. Why? Don't you think the reader is capable of figuring out the exchange? What if it's an Ozzie reading it? No good to them in US dollars. Or do you only want US visitors to your website?

You seem to be under the impression that a specific price for one hostel is better than a general 10-30 range. Why? How useful is it to me to know that hostel X is $20 if they don't have a bed available. If I then go to hostel Y and they want $30, am I supposed to think that is a rip-off? Or would it make sense for me to know that they range from $10 - 40? A range is useful, a specific price for a specific place is far less useful.

How do you envision maintaining this data base of exact numbers? Are you going to check all prices every month to insure they are still current? Or am I going to get to hostel X and discover that it is closed or under new management with the prices having been doubled?

Are you planning to have this data base cover every single town in the world in detail? If not, why would you include Andorra and Georgia (as you say there isn't enough info on them) but not some other equally obscure place? There is a practical limit to everything and you suggesting your list will be superior to another list is just silly.

You are simply attempting to re-invent the wheel and are labouring under the illusion that your wheel will go round better than someone else's wheel. I understand you are looking for ways to make money for yourself with websites, but this idea is not a new idea. Being able to put together a website does not mean you are also able to figure out which website will work successfully. Generally speaking, re-inventing the wheel is not a money making idea.

It's not supposed to give details on any specific location or town or city any more specific than country.

All it'll be is a website that'll allow you to select what countries you're going to, in what order, for how long and what range of food and accommodation you want (expensive, medium, budget) and then it'll calculate a budget for each country, and then a budget for the entire trip.

I don't intend to update it every month or anything. I wanted to set it up to help me calculate a rough budget for the trip I am planning and then put it online for other people to use it.

I will update it every now and then when prices change significantly, perhaps twice a year or so. It is not meant intended to be a up-to-date price guide to everywhere. Just a tool to estimate the cost of a trip (holiday, rtw, whatever) and work out daily budgets, etc.

I also wanted US dollars since it is easiest to work with. Most users would undoubtably be americans, and most countries unfortunately will be able to accept US dollars somewhere. I myself am Australian, so of course I'll also have conversions for Australian $ and maybe the Euro and pound...

OK, handheldhigh, here it is.

Average daily budget suitable around the world. $75 per day.

Anything else you want on the website?
