Hi All,

Does anyone have a view on the best quality backpacking insurance provider? I am willing to pay more for a more comprehensive policy, so am looking for the best provider (not the cheapest!).

I am going to be travelling with my wife around South East Asia for 3 months.

Thanks,
J

there's no 'best' for everyone; your job is to find the policy that suits what you are going to do. If it is a holiday, no point paying for working cover. If you aren't going to be skydiving, don't pay for cover for that.

BTW if you are over 35 or so you are excluded from most backpacker policies, no idea why. What you want is a single-trip policy.

I used direct-travel and their prices were good and cover comprehensive. Never claimed though.

You've just got to check a few out, and probably best to avoid the comparison sites as they'll give you hundreds of choices, but they're all based on price alone so you'll go dizzy fairly quickly.
Obviously there's World Nomads, Lonely Planets "trusted" provider (i.e. they pay Lonely Planet), and there's Columbus and True Traveller who are well known for backpackers.
