Hi guys,

I'm having a bit of a mini-crisis. My partner and I are planning a trip before starting our new jobs in Feb next year, and we are trying to fit in as much as possible in the time we have. The plan is to spend July-Oct travelling, and then Oct-Jan in France learning French.

The problem is, our itinerary for the three month travelling looks something like this:

London --> Nairobi

Nairobi --> Jo'berg overland for 1 month

Jo'berg --> Delhi

Delhi --> Hong Kong

Hong Kong --> Bangkok

Bangkok --> UK

The plan was to spend the bulk of the time in Africa on the overland trip and SE Asia (Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand). 2 weeks in India and a week in Hong Kong with friends. However, having rung up a few different travel agencies re tickets, I've been given 3 different quotes - £900, £1500 and £2000. £2000 is waay over budget, I only wanted to spend about £1000ish on flights. Can anyone suggest what to do? I want to keep the flights flexible if I can.

Thanks!

Way too rushed!!!

spend the whole time in one of the regions and you will enjoy it more. We spent almost three months in Cambodia Thailand, vietnam and loas. and still felt rushed. We spent three months in Africa and did much the same route and you want to do it in a month. the only thing you will remember will be the scenery as you look out the window. You could always go back to one of the regions later in life.

just my opinion

Thanks for the advice.

I'm not intending on spending too long in Cambodia as I have been there before, so we're basically going to spend most of the time in Angkor Wat.

Africa we're travelling on a truck with Africa In Focus and doing Nairobi to Vic Falls in a month, then going down to Jo'berg independently to get our flights.

It is true that we could go back and visit these countries later but the reality is we probably won't as we will both be working highly-stressful jobs in the City and probably won't want to backpack for a good time to come.

2 weeks in India is too less...(I have been there once for only 5 days..but I wasn't traveling around) unless you want to focus only on the north.
If you don't plan to go to the beach and stay in the north...then I would suggest following:
Delhi and Agra - 4 days...you need at least one day in Agra.
Udaipur - 2 days
Jaipur - 2 days
Jaisalmer - 3 days

And you have 3 more days for Delhi or some other place u would want to go.

I would suggest that u fly to most of the places to save time...
I always check this site for flight quotes:

(Air India and Jet Airways charge dollar fare to foreigners..so try to avoid those airlines.)

Kingfisher, Spicejet and Airdeccan (http://www.airdeccan.net/) are charging the same rate for indians and foreigners.
