My partner and i are thinking of flying to Rome and using it as a base to drive or train it for 2-3 weeks
can we get some advise about hotels etc and weather this is a good plan

I have a short layover in Paris from the US. The plane should arrive around 10:40 AM and departs to Egypt at 4 PM. Do I have enough time to go the city to see some attraction? I have to advise anyone using the parking(valet)services at Malpensa Airport. Document the sate of the car before handing it over to the service, and make sure that the company acknowledges it. I have heard of so many cases when the car has been scratched while in custody of the valet service, and then the company flat out refusing to admit that it happened when they had the responsibility of the car. I will be in Rome during the republic day (June 2) weekend.
1) Are places (tourist sites/restaurant & bars/shopping) open during Republic Day ?
2) Is public transport affected on this day ? I have to take a train from Trastevere to FCO airport at 4 pm on this day, want to know if its on schedule or a special schedule.
3) What to people in Rome do on this day ? Public processions and/or places to visit/avoid ?

I will be in Rome from May 29 to June 2, and am wondering whats the best option for mobile internet. Since I'm only there for 4-5 days, is it recommended to rent a portable wifi pocket device or get a local SIM card ?
