Villach railway station - have I enough time to transfer trains

Country forums / Western Europe / Austria

Hi,

I'm thinking of taking the train from Ljubljana to Klagenfurt this weekend, to go to Ikea. I'm going to take the train, transferring at Villach and I've noticed that on the way back I have 12 minutes to transfer from platform 4 to platform 1B.

Can anyone tell me if the trains usually run on time? 12 minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time if there's any delay, would I be mad to attempt it?

Thanks

12 Minutes is fine, even 5 are under condition your first train is in time.

Hi!

Villach is an important junction for the railways, but the transfer time really is short. Just once down with the escalator and again up.

Great, thanks for the replies!

Hi....

The big issue is if your inbound train is on time. That's all you need to worry about. If it is, then fine.
However, if it's 15 minutes late and your outward bound train is on time....
Nobody can give you an answer as to whether or not you'll get the connection - not even the train company.

Trains run usually on time, yes.
But if you've some extra time (some hours?) to spend and you're a shop-addict, consider to visit Atrio in Villach

BTW., just curious, why not Ikea in Ljubljana?

its enough if the train is on time

There are 7 (seven!) Villach bound trains leaving Klagenfurt between 16.43 and 18.46. So, you may just take an earlier one.
BTW: the 18.46 Intercity starts it's journey at Klagenfurt; it doesn't come from anywhere else.

If your train isn't too late, they'll probably hold your connecting train.
