THessaloniki has good beaches?

Am planning a few relaxing days near thessaloniki in august to end a long and busy summertrip . Ideally looking for a few days at nice beaches no more than 200km drive from thessaloniki airport which will be our return airport. ANy suggestions?

Chalkidiki (the peninsula) seems to be the obvious choice.

Indeed, but am spoilt for choice there, right? so many beaches out on those peinunsula....any suggestions of localities would be even greater. But thinks for already confirming that area.

I'm sorry, I haven't been up there for ages. Perhaps other forum members will have specific suggestions. An odd idea would be to visit Athos, the 'Holy Mountain' (men only, I'm afraid).

My favourites are the beaches south of Nikiti: Koviou Beach, Kalogria Beach.....

Salonika has no beaches in town.

Salonika has beaches on East - named Perea, but is not so clear and good quality.
Best option is to visit the beaches of Sani Resort (Not so far from Thessaloniki).
