Snowboarding near MunichCountry forums / Western Europe / Germany
Hi.. | ||
Zugspitze is a good place for snowboarding. Good snow conditions and a very good snowpark (at 2600 meters). Spitzingsee is quite a good place but I don´t know when Easter will be in 2008 and snowconditions can be getting bad end of march, beginning of abril. | 1
Depends what you want out of a mountain. I lived in Garmisch P. for 5 years and yes there is ok snowboarding in the area. However if you are making the trip for just snowboarding I would spend the extra hour and half and go to St. Anton, Lech, Zurs...The Arlberg!! This is a mecca for snow hounds and there is ENDLESS terrain to explore for Beginners to Expert. The lift tickets will cost about the same as well as the accomdation. The mountains, the night life are 100X better. Get to Innsbruck from Munich and it is an hour and 1/2 train direct to St. Anton. Don't waste your time in Garmisch. The Zugsptiz is fun for ablut a day, there are only T bars, and if it is a snowy or fogged in day....forget about it. If you are going during Easter make your reservations in advance!! Good luck | 2
Easter is most probably too late for the lower bavarian ski resorts you mention above. You´ll have to go to Austria. Either Arlberg area or Sölden area or Zillertal. A good spot I'd recommend (also not too far from Munich):Obergurgl/Hochgurgl. Skiing on Zugspitze will be possible, too, but that's not that great (great view though, if wheather is fine) | 3
